Grandma Goes To Vail

Meet my favorite little 3 month-old princesses: Sophie (left) and Lauren (right) that I got to play with in Vail April 4-11. Posted by Picasa

In keeping with my goal of seeing the twins every month, I took my third trip back to Vail the first week of April to see the 3 month-old twins. This time I got to stay for a week and really get to know them; hopefully they'll remember me till the next visit. What fun! Even the 4 a.m. feeding shifts that I got were a pleasure. The babes are growing and before long they'll be up and running around causing all sorts of excitement. Knowing that Steve and Tina's home wasn't designed for two toddlers, they bought a new house while I was there. Now they get to sell the one they're in -- can you imagine keeping a house with twin babies clean for real estate showings? They will probably move to the new house sometime in the summer. It will be great!

The twins also have to look forward to their first airplane ride as they will be traveling to Chicago on Mother's Day weekend. Of course all of us will travel there too to log in more baby time. Sophie Elizabeth and Lauren Ruth will also get to meet their two great grandmothers, Ruth (Steve's grandmother) and Sophia (Tina's grandmother) during that time. (Buy Kodak stock!) Posted by PicasaLauren is little Miss Personality. She's talking in full sentences (altho we haven't yet be able to figure out what she's saying.) This visit Lauren gave us some sad times with her feeding time melt-downs. She'd get a little formula down and then throw a fit (like put in your earplugs fits). Because of this she isn't gaining as fast as Sophie and falling behind in weight (not behind in will however!) While I was there Lauren was also diagnosed with stomach reflux and began the same medicine as Sophie has been on. She's already much better and I'm sure she will catch up on the weight fast now. She's so much fun (and likes me best!) so we play, read, coo&goo, as much as possible. She looks so much like Steve did as a baby, it's scary. But it looks like she will be as smart as Steve too, so that's a good thing. The twins are so alike and so different -- amazing!

Sophie's an eatin' fool, and gaining like a trooper. She was the small one at birth but has caught up and passed Lauren in weight. She's also the one that scared us with her breathing problem that was diagnosed as stomach reflux. But the med she's on is working and she's a much happier camper now! Sophie's the strong, solid one, and we predict will be the first one to walk (while Lauren will be the first one to talk?) Loveable (who couldn't love that sweetie?) and easy to please. I'm just afraid the next time I visit, she will be too heavy for me to lift. She's also starting to grasp at rattles and toys and will soon learn kids' favorite word -- "MINE!" Posted by Picasa

Yep, they're twins, for sure!

We had all kinds of weather from blizzards to 4" of snow to 70 degree sunny beautiful days. On the clear days, the girls and I went for our stroll up the road to the golf course pathways. They usually slept the entire time, but I enjoyed it for all of us. Posted by Picasa

Since Steve works 24 hour shifts on his job as a paramedic for the ambulance service, he is home every other day and then for 3 straight days off. It's a great deal since then he can see and help with the girls during the days he's home.  Posted by Picasa
